American College Connection: Volleyball Women's volleyball is rapidly becoming more visible, and at the collegiate level is accepted as a major women's sport. The problem is that most college volleyball budgets are not keeping up with inflation. Travel is becoming increasingly more difficult and time consuming and as such, college coaches are not traveling to evaluate prospective volleyball recruits.
Consider These Facts:
(390,814*) - Number of girls in the U.S. who play high school volleyball
(100,000) - Number of graduating high school seniors every year
(2,680) - Approximate number of scholarships offered each year by Division I and II programs
(1 in 37) Your chances of receiving a college volleyball scholarship
How can you improve your chances?
Charlene Johnson-Tagaloa, Director of Volleyball
When it comes to college and olympic volleyball, Charlene Johnson-Tagaloa is a name that turns heads. As a very recent assistant coach at the University of Nebraska, Charlene helped to guide the huskers to the 2006 National Championship. Because of Charlene's love for the game and her desire to help younger athletes, she has recently been inducted into the 2006 BYU Hall of Fame and will continue to treasure her experience playing on the 2000 Olympic team. When Charlene recommends an athlete from ACC to college coaches, her background and knowledge of the game makes college coaches stop and listen.
"Natasha's dream has always been to play college volleyball at a warm weather school. As a result of ACC's efforts, Natasha will be attending college and playing volleyball on a scholarship in Florida. The college coach admits that he would have never found a player in Nebraska without ACC. Because of ACC's recruiting program and their director's reputation, Tasha was recruited by 33 colleges from 20 different states. If anyone would like to find out how much American College Connection cared and what they did for us please call."
